Mai Po Vertical consists of two vintages of our bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout. Vertical tastings with friends are a fun way to experience the nuanced flavour progression of aged-beers in one sitting. We recommend working your way from the earliest vintage to the latest one. Earlier-vintage beers tend to have mellowed so they won't overpower the flavours of the next beer you try.

Mai Po BBA Imperial Stout is the perfect age-able beer for verticals. Brewed with dark, roasted malts, imperial stouts have a relatively high residual sugar that confers an advantage when cellaring. Also, beers with a higher ABV than 8 percent have more time to develop rich flavour complexities because alcohol acts as a preservative. When stored at a constant temperature of 4 to 8 degrees Celsius, each Mai Po vintage may be enjoyed for up to 5 years from its release date.
TASTING NOTES
MAI PO (2022): Aged in Knob Creek 9-year bourbon barrels. Rich roasted coffee and chocolate flavours infused with notes of maple syrup, oak, and caramel. 10.5% ABV.
MAI PO (2021): Aged in George Dickel 12-year bourbon barrels. Rich roasted coffee and chocolate flavours infused with notes of vanilla, oak, and caramel. 8.5% ABV.
